Vascular & Arterial Surgery
Medico-Legal Expert Witness

Mr Welch has been receiving instructions to act as an expert witness in vascular surgery for a number of years and is frequently instructed in personal injury, clinical negligence and criminal cases; notably he has appeared, and is scheduled to re-appear at the Central Criminal Court (the ‘Old Bailey’) as a vascular expert witness for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). He has undergone his medico-legal training with Bond Solon and is registered with APILAvMA and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses.

Mr Welch holds weekly medico-legal clinics in Manchester, but is happy to conduct home and prison visits. His claimant/defendant ratio split is approximately 70/30 and he can usually turnaround reports within 4-6weeks, sooner if required.

Mr Welch’s professional indemnity insurance covers his medico-legal advice.

Testimonials

The Metropolitan Police and Counsel were more than happy with how accommodating Mr Welch was in addition to the quality of the information in his report and the quality of his evidence. Without him, we would not have secured a conviction. In particular, he explained technical jargon in layman’s terms which was very helpful for the jury to understand the complexities of vascular medicine.
— The Metropolitan Police
Mr Welch’s initial report was most helpful as was his amended report provided overnight, after the first day of evidence and in the light of some extra medical records. Mr Welch’s presence at court to hear all the evidence was really beneficial and his contribution from the witness box to the live evidence was of great assistance. It was a great pleasure to work with Mr Welch. I know that my coroner’s officer felt the same.
